We care about your privacy and protecting your Personal Information very seriously. When visiting Khalifa Foundation’s websites, we may gather your Personal Information as this Privacy Policy outlines. We take the privacy of our website visitors very seriously and have ensured to protect it. Our Privacy Policy aims to provide clear information to users about the data we gather, how we gather it, and how we handle and share your information, including personal details, when you access and use our Websites. We want you to know that we value transparency and take your privacy seriously. When we handle data (as explained below), we always make sure that there is a legal reason for doing so, or we ask for permission. Definitions

“Anonymous Information” means Anonymous Information is data unrelated to your Personal Information. It cannot be used to identify individuals.

“Personal information” refers to details about a person that can identify them, whether directly or indirectly. This includes their name, identification number, location data, online identifiers, and other specific factors related to their physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural, or social identity.

“Process” or “Processing” refers to performing any task or series of tasks on Personal Information, whether automated or not, including collection, recording, organisation, storage, retrieval, use, disclosure, alignment, restriction, erasure, or destruction.

“Services” refers to the services that we provide on our websites.

“Khalifa Foundation” refers to Khalifa Salum Kulunge Foundation

If you see an undefined term in this Privacy Policy, it has the same definition as in our Terms of Use or the terms used by the Tanzania legislature.

Making Sure Everything is Secure

At the Khalifa Foundation, we take the necessary steps to safeguard any Personal Information under our control. This includes implementing physical, electronic, and managerial measures to prevent loss or misuse. However, it is important to note that while web-based data transmissions are possible, some security vulnerabilities cannot be completely protected against. Rest assured, you can share your Personal Information with us through various channels, including by telephone, if you prefer.

We gather personal information from our members who provide donations

In order to use our Websites and Services, we kindly request that you voluntarily provide us with certain Personal Information. This information is necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations to you and comply with legal requirements. Without this information, we may not be able to provide you with all the services you have requested.

  • Account Information. When signing up for an Account, we need specific details from you, such as your first and last name, email address, chosen password, and a security question with its answer.

  • Payment Information. To help process payments, we may need you to provide us with specific financial details such as your bank account or credit card information.

  • Communications with Khalifa Foundation regarding the Services. When you communicate with Khalifa Foundation, you provide additional contacts, or other information needed to fulfil an ED request or payment processing, for example, we collect information about your communication (such as your email address) and any information you choose to provide for us to services to the communities.

  • To use our services, please provide the necessary information. If not, please refrain from using our services.

  • You may choose to provide optional information only if you give your consent.

  • We collect any information, including Personal Information, that you enter into any postings or comments within our Services.

We collect personal information from Khalifa Foundation
  • The Services require certain information from you, which must be provided. In addition to their name, title, and email address, other NGOs wishing to work with Khalifa Foundation must also provide us their organisation name, type, registration, mission, operational documents, budget and contact information. These do not require any information for equivalency determinations and do not include the names and titles of officers or board members unless requested by the funder initiating the ED request.

  • We only share it with the Grantmaker member who requested it if the NGO has given us explicit permission.

  • To use the Websites, we need you to provide the mentioned information. If you do not wish to provide this information, please refrain from using the Website. You can provide information, which will only be used with your consent.

  • When you leave us feedback or request support, we will collect any information in your feedback or support request (including your email address).

Data you submit about third parties

If you recommend an NGO or any charity organisation, you must share their name and email address through our Services. If the NGO or charity organisation decides to work with us, they will become users and be subject to the same Privacy Policy terms as you. However, if they choose not to register to work with us, we will delete their information within a reasonable timeframe.

Use of information we collect

We utilise the Personal Information you provide to offer you our Services, respond to your requests, enhance the Services, and provide you with more information, opportunities, and functionality. We may also send you updates regarding the Services. In addition, we may use Personal Information to comply with legal obligations. Your Personal Information is not utilised for other purposes, such as profiling individuals who visit our Websites. We will not share any Personal Information we collect with third parties without your explicit consent.

Improving our services

Our goal is to provide you with access to and the ability to use our websites and services. We operate, protect, improve, and optimise the Services. Send you important messages regarding our services, updates, security alerts, and notifications. Send promotional messages and other information that may interest you based on your preferences (including information about Khalifa Foundation activities to support communities).

When you give us feedback, we may use and share it, but we won't link it to your Personal Information. We'll follow our Privacy Policy for any Personal Information included in your feedback. To better understand how people use our websites, we may create Anonymous Information by removing details that could identify you personally. We use this Anonymous Information to analyse trends, track visitor movement, and gather demographic information for reporting purposes.

Your choices regarding your Personal Information

The Khalifa Foundation frequently sends promotional messages to inform you about updates or modifications to our services and to provide you with opportunities to participate in special programs and events. These emails will come from Khalifa Foundation. If you do not wish to receive these announcements, you can cancel your organisation’s Khalifa Foundation membership or remove yourself as a contact for your organisation's Khalifa Foundation membership. You understand that any such termination of your Account information may involve deleting your Personal Information from our live databases. We will not be liable for any termination of your Account or related deletion of your information.

Please keep in mind that although you may ask us to delete your Personal Information, there are situations where we are obligated to keep it and cannot delete it, either due to legal requirements or other reasons. If we are required to keep your information for a certain period, we will comply with your request once this time has passed. Please note that if we delete any information collected from or about you, it will be removed from our active databases, but may still be present in our archives.

Disclosing information to third parties

1. Service providers

Since Khalifa Foundation is a registered NGO in Tanzania, it conducts activities in mainland Tanzania. In doing so, Khalifa Foundation can work with other registered NGOs and various third parties to help us provide the Service to communities in Tanzania mainland. Service providers may be within regions and districts within Tanzania's mainland.

As an illustration, service providers may assist us in several ways, such as: (a) confirming your identity or validating your identification documents, (b) cross-checking data with public databases, (c) carrying out background or police checks, and preventing fraud through third-party platforms and software tools.(e.g., through the integration with our APIs), or (f) advertising, or payment services. Our providers have restricted access to your information and are only allowed to use it for the specific tasks we have assigned to them. They are also bound by contractual agreements to protect your data and use it solely for the intended purposes, by our Privacy Policy. If Khalifa Foundation needs to share your information, including Personal Information, with a service provider, to ensure adequate performance of our contract with you, we are permitted to do so.

2. Business transfers

If Khalifa Foundation if we are part of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or insolvency event, we may sell, transfer, or share our assets, including your information, related to that transaction (e.g., due diligence). The Khalifa Foundation will inform you beforehand if your personal information will be transferred and become subject to a new privacy policy.

3. Compliance with the law, responding to legal requests, preventing harm and protecting our rights

In certain situations, the Khalifa Foundation may need to share your personal information with authorised third parties, courts, law enforcement agencies, or government authorities. This may happen if it is required or allowed by law, or if it is deemed necessary to: (a) fulfil our legal obligations, (b) respond to legal claims against Khalifa Foundation, (c) comply with verified requests relating to a criminal investigation or suspected illegal activity that could cause legal liability, (d) enforce our agreements with users and customers, or (e) protect the rights, property, or safety of Khalifa Foundation, its employees, users, customers, or the public.

If you have any concerns about how Khalifa Foundation processes your data, you are entitled to submit a complaint. This Privacy Policy does not restrict your right to file a complaint in the appropriate jurisdiction.

Our Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If significant changes are made, we will inform you through this Website or via email if you have provided us with your email address. The modified Privacy Policy will become effective thirty (30) days after being posted or sent to you. By continuing to access our Websites or use our Services after that time, you accept the updated Privacy Policy
